Genealogy
Colonized in 1730, Kershaw County is one of the oldest settled areas in the midlands of South Carolina. During his second term, President George Washington spent the night in Camden where he was lavishly entertained. Our area is rich in history, with many beautiful old homes, open parks, and historic buildings including two buildings designed by Robert Mills. We have many genealogy resources to help you find your family's place in Kershaw County's past.

Resources Available The Archives and Museum is recognized throughout the region as
having one of the best genealogical research libraries in the Southeast. It houses a diverse collection of books, maps, microfilm, files,
periodicals and general reference materials which aid visitors in their
research for ancestry. It also houses rare files and artifacts from the
